What goes on a top pizza?

How to make the ultimate veggie pizza

For our Supreme Veggie Pizza without pepperoni and sausage. But to bring in a meaty flavor, we used our favorite trick: fennel seeds! Fennel seed is used in cured meats, so when you eat it, your brain thinks of sausage. Here we’ve sautéed mushrooms with fennel seeds, giving them a hearty, meaty flavor. Add the regular bell pepper and onion to this – and a sprinkle of feta cheese to add another salty and salty kick. It’s so satisfying and has the vibe of a premium delivery pizza while being a lot healthier.

The other trick to a good veggie supreme pizza is a great pizza sauce. Here we used our Easy Pizza Sauce made with Fire Roasted Tomatoes and Garlic. Using fire-roasted tomatoes is key here: they add a sweet, tangy flavor, unlike typical canned tomatoes, which can sometimes taste bitter. If you can’t find fire roasted tomatoes, use the best quality tomatoes you can find.

The most important thing about a good pizza is of course the dough. We have some pizza dough recipes that you can make according to your taste and equipment. Our Best Pizza Dough is our preferred method; We make it with a stand mixer, but you can also knead it by hand. Our Easy Thin Crust method is similar but results in a thinner crust that you roll out. Or try our quick pizza dough made in a food processor.

Now, before you try your hand at this premium veggie pizza, you’ll need a few special tools. If you want to win, you absolutely need these two things to make the perfect pizza crust. Here are the tools you need to make real Italian pizza:

  • pizza stone: A pizza stone makes the Italian pizza base crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Here’s the best pizza stone we recommend and a little more about pizza stone care.
  • pizza shovel: The pizza is pushed onto the hot pizza stone in the oven with a pizza scraper. We recommend this Standard Pizza Shovel or this Conveyor Pizza Shovel. The pizza pusher with conveyor belt is definitely worth the extra investment as it makes pushing the pizza out of the oven very easy.

The description

This vegetarian supreme pizza is extremely delicious! It’s completely stuffed with sautéed mushrooms, green peppers, red onions, feta cheese, and oregano.

  1. Prepare pizza dough: Follow the Best Pizza Dough recipe to prepare the dough. (It takes about 15 minutes and 45 minutes to rest.)
  2. Place a pizza stone in the oven and preheat to 500°F. OR preheat your pizza oven (this is the pizza oven we use).
  3. Prepare pizza sauce: Prepare the pizza sauce 5 minutes.
  4. Preparation of the toppings: Slice the mini bella mushrooms. Heat the olive oil in a small pan. Sauté mushrooms and fennel seeds until golden and beginning to release moisture, about 3-5 minutes. Add 3 pinches of kosher salt and continue cooking for a few minutes. Remove from fire.
  5. Finely chop the green pepper. Cut the red peppers into thin slices. Finely chop the red onion.
  6. Bake pizza: When the oven is done, dust a pizza peel with corn or semolina flour. (If you don’t have a pizza peel, you can use a rimmed baking sheet or the back of a rimmed baking sheet. But a pizza peel is worth the investment!) Roll out the dough in a circle; For instructions, see How to stretch pizza dough. Then carefully place the dough on the pizza peel.
  7. Spread the pizza sauce thinly over the dough with the back of a spoon. Add mozzarella cheese. Garnish with mushrooms, peppers, red onions and crumbled feta cheese. Sprinkle with dried oregano and a few pinches of kosher salt.
  8. Use the pizza peel to carefully transfer the pizza onto the preheated pizza stone. Bake the pizza until the cheese and crust are golden brown, about 5 to 7 minutes in the oven (or 1 minute in a pizza oven). Cut into pieces and serve immediately.
