Strawberry milk

Here’s a fun drink that’s great for both kids and adults: Strawberry milk! This light pink, berry-flavored drink is quick and easy to make at home using real berries and vanilla. It’s creamy and thick, slightly sweet with just the right amount of sweet berries. Whip it up in a blender and it makes a great snack for kids: or a refreshing alternative to a smoothie. That’s how it’s done!

Ingredients strawberry milk

Who knows what’s in store-bought strawberry milk. But this strawberry milk recipe features real strawberries, your milk of choice, and a little vanilla to boost the flavor. It tastes so smooth and pure that it’s worth making at home! Here’s everything you need for this recipe:

  • Choice of milk: Use cow’s milk or oat milk for non-dairy products
  • strawberries: fresh or frozen! If possible, refrigerate fresh berries so the drink is colder when it comes out of the blender
  • Maple Syrup or Honey: or the sweetness of your choice, like agave syrup
  • Vanilla: optional, but it adds a nice nuance
  • Pinch of salt: it brings out the flavors

How to make strawberry milk: some tips

There are several ways to make strawberry milk. We prefer the quicker and easier route, which is toss everything in a blender and whip! However, there are a few things to keep in mind with this method:

  • Combine strawberries, sweetener, vanilla and salt. See recipe below for quantities.
  • Pass through a fine sieve. You can skip this step if you want to drink right away. But the texture without constraint is quite thick: it separates quickly and has a floating strawberry flesh. Pass it through a sieve and the texture will be nice and smooth and fluffy. It’s worth the extra time!
  • Cold. After blending, the milk should not be completely cold, especially if using room temperature strawberries. Chill the milk or add a few ice cubes to the blender and blend before straining.

storage information

Homemade strawberry milk has different storage instructions than store-bought milk. Here’s what you need to know about duration:

  • Keep refrigerated for 3 to 4 days. It’s better the closer to when you did it.
  • It separates naturally: just shake before serving! We like to keep it in a sealed jar: then just shake it before pouring it into a glass.
