How to Make Roasted Asparagus (Remember It!)

Alex and I created this Roasted Asparagus as an easy-to-use meal side. What meal isn’t more complete with those elegant green stems on the side? Lasagna, risotto, macaroni and cheese: you name it! Every meal is better with the added fiber and nutrients that asparagus contains. Here we’ll help you walk through the steps to prepare Roasted Garlic Asparagus (or directly to the recipe!).

Step 1: Cut off the ends of the asparagus.

Start with 1 pound of asparagus, or about 1 large bunch. With asparagus, you quiet want to cut off the ends where the trunk gets thick. This part is hard and woody and difficult to chew. Then line a baking sheet with aluminum foil or parchment paper.

Step 2: Season!

Mix the asparagus with the 4 magic ingredients! Quantities are below. If you’ve made this recipe a few times, give it a try – no need to measure! Add these ingredients, then mix them together with your hands:

  1. olive oil (1 tablespoon)
  2. Kosher salt (½ tsp), plus a few black ribbons pepper
  3. clove of garlic (1 small); rub directly over the asparagus!
  4. Lemon peel (Zest of ½ lemon); Use a microplane to grate it directly onto the asparagus

Step 3: Roast in the oven: 10 to 15 minutes at 425!

Place the asparagus in the oven and roast until the asparagus is tender, about 10 to 15 minutes. The timing depends on the thickness of the asparagus.

Step 4: Drizzle with lemon juice!

Don’t forget the last essential step. Squirt 1 teaspoon of lemon juice at the end and brighten up roasted asparagus with fresh flavor!
