It’s creamy, it’s a flavorful, cozy cake, and it’s made with real pumpkin for the best natural flavor. What’s in a Pumpkin Martini?

The Pumpkin Martini is a fall version of the flavored vodka martini with pumpkin flavors. There are many ways to get the flavors of the season, like pumpkin spice syrup or pumpkin liqueur. But for our recipe we wanted to use natural flavors: Real pumpkin and pumpkin spice! It’s an ideal drink for Halloween or Thanksgiving or any fall event. What you need for this pumpkin martini recipe:

  • vodka
  • whipped cream (or coconut milk)
  • Pure maple syrup
  • Canned pumpkin puree (no pumpkin pie filling)
  • Pumpkin Pie Spice (bought or homemade)
  • vanilla extract

Prepare the rim of the graham cracker

The best part about this pumpkin martini recipe? The edge of the graham cracker! The rims of the glass aren’t just for decoration—they add a distinct touch of flavor and texture to each sip. Here, graham cracker crumbs add just the right amount of sweetness and crunch. It takes a few minutes but is definitely worth it. Here’s how:

  • Crumble the graham crackers and place on a plate. You can just crush them with your fingers or use the bottom of a glass or can.
  • Add a pool of maple syrup to another plate. There shouldn’t be many! This is the glue that holds the cracker crumbs in place.
  • Insert the outer rim of the glass into the maple and twist. Keep the jar position constant and simply rotate the wand for an even coating.
  • Place edges in cracker crumbs and turn. Then do the same in the cookie crumbs! The maple syrup will hold the crumbs in place.

How to make a pumpkin martini: some tips!

All you have to do to make a pumpkin pie martini? Once you have the rim of the glass prepped, it’s that easy. Shake these ingredients up and pour into the prepared jar! But here are some tips to check before you start the recipe:

  • Adjust the sweetness to taste. We love this pumpkin martini with ½ ounce of maple syrup, which makes for a perfectly balanced drink. It’s sweet enough for us with the graham cracker crust! But if you prefer sweet drinks, use either ¾ ounce (for a sweet drink) or 1 ounce (for a very sweet drink).
  • Don’t have plain maple syrup? This recipe uses pure, non-synthetic maple syrup. You can substitute honey or plain syrup if you like: or better yet, make a batch of brown sugar syrup! It only takes 5 minutes and all you need is brown sugar.

Make it dairy free or vegan

Want to make this pumpkin martini dairy-free? All you have to do is replace whole coconut milk for cream! It comes out with a slight coconut flavor but it’s not overwhelming. Coconut fat is a great substitute for milk fat. (Don’t use anything like coconut cream or it will be too sweet!)

  • 2 ounces* Vodka
  • ½ ounce whipped cream (or coconut milk, for vegans)
  • ½ ounce (at 1 ounce**) pure maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons Canned pumpkin puree
  • ¼ teaspoon Pumpkin Pie Spice
  • ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Graham cracker, for rim

  1. Prepare the rim: Break up a graham cracker with your fingers and place it on a plate. In another plate, add a small amount of maple syrup. First, drizzle the rim of a martini glass into the maple syrup, tossing the glass to evenly coat the rim. Then roll the crust in shredded graham crackers until evenly coated.
  2. Shake the drink: Pour all ingredients into a cocktail shaker. Add a handful of ice and shake until cold. Strain the drink into the prepared martini glass.

Remarks

*To convert to tablespoons, 1 ounce = 2 tablespoons.

** ½ ounce of maple syrup makes a balanced drink (and you still get that cracker edge sweetness). Use ¾ or 1 ounce of maple syrup if you like a very sweet drink. If you don’t have plain maple syrup, try homemade brown sugar syrup (only takes 5 minutes).
