How to make the perfect raspberry smoothie! It has the best sweet cake flavor, frosty texture and vibrant color.

raspberry smoothie

Here’s one of the best smoothie recipes out there…it’s perfect raspberry smoothie! This beautiful mash has it all: the best sweet cake taste, a creamy frosty texture and a gorgeous glossy colour. This one was an instant favorite in our house! This is one of the most refreshing smoothies you can find. It’s also a treat: like our creamy peach smoothie, it’s the perfect way to end a summer meal. Here’s how it works: with a few variations!

Ingredients of this raspberry smoothie

Of course, you can throw raspberries in a blender with milk and ice. But you want the perfect raspberry smoothie? Each of these components is optimized to perfection. Here’s what you need:

  • Frozen Raspberries: For a better frozen texture, we recommend using frozen raspberries. If you have fresh berries from the farmer’s market, consider freezing them (this is also a great way to store them). Or check out our variant with fresh berries below.
  • Banana: A banana enhances the sweetness and adds a nice creaminess.
  • Greek yogurt: The yogurt adds creaminess and a bit of protein. (See below for herbal products.)
  • water and milk: Using a little water will help intensify the rose flavor.
  • Maple Syrup or Honey: Add a little sweetener for just the right pop.
  • Ice: The ice adds the final frothy texture.

Variations: vegan or fresh berries

Fancy a vegan smoothie? We have a few variations of this recipe. This one uses fresh berries and a frozen banana, so you can take advantage of all the beauty of fresh berries. Here’s what to do to make a vegan version of this smoothie:

  • Option 1: Substitute ½ banana for Greek yogurt or use vegan yogurt.
  • Option 2: Use fresh berries! Mix together 2 cups fresh raspberries, 1 frozen banana, ½ cup oat milk, 1 tablespoon maple syrup, and 1 cup ice.

Add protein to this raspberry smoothie

Want to add even more protein to this raspberry smoothie? Here are a few ideas:

  • Use more Greek yogurt: The yogurt adds a little protein. Use ½ cup instead of ¼ cup Greek yogurt. Notice that the color becomes lighter and less vivid.
  • Add cashew butter or almond butter. A cashew or almond flavor pairs well with raspberries. Use about 1 tbsp, 2 for a stronger flavor. This addition also clouds the taste a bit.

flavor variations!

This raspberry smoothie tastes amazing just the way it is. But if you want it to mix even more, we have answers! Here are some ideas to make it even tastier:

  • mint or basil. Add a few fresh mint or basil leaves for an herbal touch.
  • Coconut. Add a handful of coconut (or toasted coconut) to the mixture.
  • Ginger. Add ½ teaspoon grated ginger to the mixture for a flavorful burst.
  • mango or pineapple. Substitute 1 cup of frozen mango or pineapple for 1 cup of frozen raspberries. It will also vary slightly in color.
