Ingredients of this mango smoothie

This healthy mango smoothie only has a handful of ingredients and the majority are fruit! Here’s what you need:

  • Frozen mango: Frozen mango is easy to find at your local grocery store and easy to store. This is what we usually use for the mango smoothie. You can also use fresh mango if you have it on hand: it just doesn’t have such a frosty texture.
  • Banana: The banana adds a creamy texture and accentuates the sweetness.
  • Water & Milk: A little creaminess helps with the overall texture, so we used a combination of water and milk together. You can use any type of dairy or non-dairy milk (more details below).
  • Ice: Ice gives the perfect frothy texture.
  • Fresh lemon juice: Lemon juice is the key to enhancing flavor: it’s like the salt in sweet foods!

How to make a mango smoothie

How to make it plant-based/vegan!

You can make this plant-based or vegan mango smoothie with your favorite plant-based milk instead of cow’s milk. Here is an overview:

  • oat milk: The taste is sweet and has a nice creamy texture
  • Almond milk: Slightly closer to water in texture, but popular and easy to find
  • coconut milk: Super thick and adds a strong coconut flavor (would be delicious here!)
  • I am milk: Has a nice sweet taste and thick texture

Mixtures and Variations:

This mango smoothie is so perfect (at least in our eyes!). But if you want to add a little spice: here are some options!

  • Stir in Greek yogurt. Want to add a dose of protein? Add ¼ to ½ cup Greek yogurt instead of milk. You may need a little more water to mix it in.
  • Add the cashew butter. Another way to add vegan protein is with a nut butter: here we recommend cashews with the mango.
  • Swap with frozen pineapple or peaches. Substitute a different variety of frozen fruit for a cup of frozen mango.
  • Throw away the coconut. Add a handful of coconut (or toasted coconut) for a more tropical vibe.
  • Go big on the banana. Go for the mango banana smoothie.
