Broccoli smoothie

Want to eat more broccoli? Here’s an interesting way to use it: throw it in a smoothie! The Magical broccoli smoothie gives a sweet and creamy nutritious vegetable taste. You hardly feel it! Well, there are many delicious ways to eat broccoli, which we’ll cover below (our favorite way makes it taste like french fries). But if you want to throw it in a nice green smoothie for a healthy breakfast or snack: Here’s your best bet!

Ingredients in a broccoli smoothie

This broccoli smoothie combines fruit and yogurt with the green florets to taste amazing! Our three year old picked it up quickly and immediately asked for more. There’s no trick to that, of course: this smoothie is made mostly of fruits like apples, bananas, and pineapples. (If you want to eat a lot of broccoli without the fruit, continue to the other ideas below). This is what this broccoli smoothie contains:

  • Broccoli: Cut it up into little bouquets and throw them in!
  • Apple: We like to use the green apple for its sweet and tart flavor and green color, but any apple will do.
  • Banana: The banana is essential to get a creamy texture.
  • Frozen pineapple: Frozen pineapple adds just the right frosty, sweet texture. You can substitute frozen mango if you like!
  • greek yogurt: Greek yogurt is great for smoothies because it’s high in protein and also contains probiotics that help with digestion and gut health. (Try our other yogurt smoothies.)

Variations on a Broccoli Smoothie: Make it Greener, Frostier, and More!

Fancy a bright green smoothie? Or do you like it super cold and icy? Here are some variations of this broccoli smoothie:

  • Spinach. Add 1 cup of spinach to make an even darker green smoothie!
  • Ice. Add ½ to 1 cup of ice for a fluffier, frostier smoothie.
  • Cinammon. Season with ¼ teaspoon of cinnamon.
  • Berry. do you like berries You can use them too. Substitute frozen strawberries or blueberries for the pineapple: remember that this will change the color. This also makes it a bit more tart so you can adjust it by adding some maple syrup if needed.

Make it vegan: some tips

Do you like vegan smoothies? You can make this broccoli smoothie vegan by doing the following:

  • Skip the Greek yogurt and use almond or oat milk instead of water. Start with ½ cup and increase as needed to get the right mix and texture. You can also add some ice to make it foamier.
  • Add protein over nut butters if desired. Greek yogurt contains protein, so you can add a nut butter like cashew butter or almond butter.
