Cocktail Lillet

Here’s a memorable, botanical and sparkling cocktail: the Lillet G&T! This Lillet cocktail features the popular fortified wine disguised as a gin and tonic. And man, does it deliver! The taste is perfectly fresh, with floral and herbaceous notes of Lillet Blanc and gin. Top it all off with plenty of bubbles and you have a refreshing cocktail suitable not only for summer afternoons but also for evening happy hour any time of the year. That’s how it’s done!

How to make a Lillet cocktail

You only need three ingredients for this mashup of Lillet Blanc and the classic gin and tonic. The great thing about a G&T is that it’s super easy: you don’t even have to squeeze citrus or mess up a cocktail shaker. This is what’s in this Lillet cocktail:

  • Small white
  • gin
  • tonic water

Simply mix the ingredients in the cocktail glass and then add the tonic water. As simple as that! Speaking of tonic water…

Small white

Tip: Pour the tonic water onto a spoon!

A tip for the tonic water that we also use in our World’s Best Gin Tonic. When you add the tonic water, pour it into the drink using a spoon. This is known to make it more bubbly. Now we have no scientific proof of that! But why not?

What is Lillet Blanc? Is it worth buying?

Lillet Blanc is a new must-have in our liqueur cellar. Not to give a spoiler alert, but yes! 1,000 times yes, that’s worth adding to your spirits collection. Especially for that Lillet cocktail! Here’s what you need to know:

  • Lillet is a French aperitif: a fortified wine flavored with herbs and citrus fruits. There are several types of Lillet made up of different wines: Lillet Blanc, Lillet Rosé and Lillet Rouge.
  • How do you pronounce it? It’s French, so there’s no hard “and” at the end. It’s pronounced “Li-Lay.”
  • How does Lillet Blanc taste? The taste of Lillet Blanc is light, with subtle floral and herbaceous notes. It resembles a dry white vermouth with a more intriguing grassy flavor.
  • why is it so big It has an incredibly light and refreshing taste and is super versatile. Use it to mix this Lillet G&T on a Loop or other Lillet cocktails (see below).
  • how do i hold it You can keep a bottle of Lillet in your fridge for about 3 months.

Which gin to use?

The following applies to this Lillet cocktail: the better the gin, the better the drink! Some cocktails can cover a lower than regular gin, but not here. The taste of the gin will shine through. Here are some things you should know about the types of gin:

  • Each bottle of gin tastes a little different and has different botanical aromas. Experiment to find your favorite!
  • We love Malfy Ginso that’s what we used here.
  • Avoid Tanqueray Gin: In our opinion there is a strong floral quality.
