Iced green tea

There’s always room for healthier drinks in our repertoire, and here’s one that’s quick and refreshing: Iced green tea! Virtually zero in calories but extremely filling, this delicious drink combines the grassy herbal flavor of green tea with hints of lemon and the clinking of ice cubes. It moisturizes in all seasons: ideal for summer And during the colder months when you want to mix up your hot tea routine. That’s how it’s done!

What is green iced tea?

Iced green tea is a drink made from green tea bags or loose leaf tea served over ice. It differs from an Iced Green Tea Latte, which is a green drink made from matcha (green tea powder) and milk. Without sweeteners, a green iced tea contains only 2 calories! It’s a great healthy drink idea: we love making it to replace our afternoon iced coffee habit. There are several ways to make this drink, but we like it like Starbucks iced green tea: just tea and ice with no sweetener. Here are the ingredients you will need:

  • Green Tea Bag (no matcha!)
  • Boiling water
  • Ice
  • slice of lemon

How to make green iced tea

It only takes 5 minutes to make green iced tea: no more time to boil the water! Green tea has a very mild flavor that can be diluted with ice cubes. So here you should use two bags for one serving. It also benefits from a longer steeping time: count 5 minutes instead of 2 minutes. Here’s what to do:

  1. Leave for 5 minutes: Place two tea bags in a jar or glass with ¾ cup of boiling water. Leave for 5 minutes.
  2. Add ice and lemon: Add 1 ½ cups ice and squeeze a lemon wedge. Enjoy!

Sweet versus unsweetened

You can also sweeten this green iced tea. We were expecting to like it with some sweetener, but this one just tastes great. In fact, with no added sugar, the taste is more refreshing and pure. But if you want to add a little sweetener, feel free! Here are some notes:

  • The drink tastes good without sweeteners: We prefer pure tea flavor without it.
  • Start with 1 teaspoon of honey, maple syrup, or plain syrupthen stir in more to taste.
  • Treat yourself to flavored syrups. Try mint syrup or ginger syrup to add an extra nuance to the flavor.
