How to do the hypnotic breeze

While we love a good Incredible Hulk, he doesn’t get all the benefits of a bottle of Hpnotiq. Why not concoct a tropical Hpnotiq drink to get the most out of that fruity flavor?

This “Hypnotic Breeze” is a twist on the Bay Breeze or Malibu Bay Breeze cocktails, combining cranberry juice with pineapple juice in a carefree beachside cocktail. This one swaps cranberry for blue liquor and opts for a tie-dye effect instead of the traditional layers. Here are the easy steps to this drink (or scroll down for the recipe):

  • shake together Hpnotiq, white rum, lime juice and simple syrup in a shaker.
  • Strain the drink into a cocktail glass. Fill it with ice (clear ice is best!).
  • Pour the pineapple juice in the middle of the drink. It makes a nice tie dye effect! It disappears when you sip the drink, but it’s a fun feature.

What is Hpnotiq anyway?

Hpnotiq is a light blue liqueur worthy of adding to any adventurous bartender’s collection at home! While not found in many cocktails, it does have a wow factor that’s well worth it. Here’s a little more about it:

  • Hpnotiq is a sky-blue liqueur made from fruit juice, vodka and cognac, invented in 2001. It became popular when rapper Sean Combs started selling it at his Justin’s chain of restaurants in New York City, and it has been used in popular hip hop and rap lyrics.
  • How shall I put it? It is pronounced “hypnotic”.
  • What does Hpnotiq mean taste good? It’s sweet, with strong notes of passion fruit and mango, and a subtly bitter finish.
  • What ABV is Hpnotiq? It’s 17% ABV, so it’s a low-alcohol spirit. (Compare it to 40% ABV for alcohols like rum, gin, vodka, and whiskey.)
