What is the leek?

First off, what are leeks? Leeks are vegetables that belong to the onion family. Other vegetables of the same family, called Garlic, are onion, garlic, scallion, scallion and chives. Leeks have an elongated cylindrical shape: the hard green upper part is not eaten and the soft light green and white lower part is eaten. A leek resembles a very large spring onion (also known as a spring onion).

How does a leek taste? Leeks have a mild onion flavor: the flavor is more nuanced and refined than an onion.

So how to cook leeks? It’s really easy once you’ve cut them! Heat some olive oil or butter in a pan over medium heat, then add the leeks. Cook, stirring frequently, until just tender and just before they begin to brown, about 4 to 5 minutes. Keep an eye on them as they can easily turn brown if the heat is too high! They are at their best when they are just beginning to turn golden.
