Ingredients for carrots with honey glaze
All it takes is a handful of ingredients to make sweet, buttery pennies out of plain old carrot sticks. Here’s what you’ll need to make these Honey Glazed Carrots:
- Large carrots: We’re not big fans of baby carrots, those little sticks meant to taste sweeter. Buy a bunch of large carrots: or you can also use a bunch of long, skinny carrots if you can find any!
- butter (or olive oil for non-dairy products)
- Kosher salt
- Brown sugar: Brown sugar helps achieve the perfect caramelization
- Honey: If you’re cooking for a vegan, you can use maple instead!

The best way to cut carrots
This is just our opinion, but for honey glazed carrots, we love slicing carrots on the bias. It’s just a matter of slicing them diagonally like a baguette. Why do they do that? Well it makes nice larger oval shapes instead of very small circles. It doesn’t really make a big difference, but we think it looks classier!
Also, be sure to roughly chop the carrots 1/4 inch rounds. It’s just the right thickness for the time they’re in the pan.
How to Make Honey Glazed Sauteed Carrots: Basic Method
What is the best way to make honey glazed carrots? Jumped on the stove! We tested a roasted carrot method, and while we liked it for the straight roast, it didn’t work well with the honey glaze. Instead, you can get it done on the stovetop in less than half the time. This makes it perfect for quickly making an easy weeknight dinner. Here’s what you should know (or jump to the recipe below):
- Cook covered for 4 minutes over medium heat. Don’t even try to move! For this step, you will not touch the carrots at all. Lightly brown them on one side before exposing them.
- Add brown sugar and honey and cook for about 3 minutes. The sugar and honey melt together and create a lovely caramel colored sauce. You can stir occasionally here.
- Salt to taste. And you’re done! Taste and add a little more salt if you like. We added another ⅛ TL.
