This is high season for our markets here in Indiana; They are full of nice big tomatoes, melons, cucumbers, berries and corn. How to make Salsa Cruda

Buying heirloom tomatoes and making things like salsa cruda hasn’t always been the norm for me. When Alex and I first started shopping at farmers markets, we had no idea what to buy, or better yet, what to do with it. But we’ve gradually learned to prepare a meal with what’s in season or what you have on hand. Most of our kitchen inspiration comes from seasonal items that catch our eye or things we randomly mix and match with what’s on hand.

This salsa turned out wonderful and was a perfect condiment to our meals all week. We served this with these scrambled egg tacos, which rose wonderfully.

How do you make Salsa Cruda? Here are the key steps to do this:

  1. Find juicy, ripe tomatoes. When in season, ripe tomatoes are best here. Look for colorful heirloom tomatoes at your local farmer’s market that add a vibrant touch.
  2. Gather the other ingredients. Red onion, jalapeño pepper, cilantro and lime are the main players.
  3. Hack ’em up! This is where your knife skills shine. Follow our tutorials to learn the best ways to dice tomatoes, chop onions and chop cilantro.
  4. mix it up Mix all the vegetables with the lime juice and salt. like that ! They have salsa cruda.

Video: how to cut a tomato

Wondering how to cut a tomato but not sure what the best way is? This Salsa Cruda is made exclusively from fresh primeval tomatoes. There are several ways to cut a tomato: diced, quartered and sliced. Here’s how Alex and I cut tomatoes four different ways: We use these methods in everything from our pico de gallo recipe to our tabbouleh recipe! Here’s our step-by-step guide to slicing tomatoes, including a video of me showing how to dice, slice, and quarter tomatoes in our kitchen.
