Healthy Chocolate Milkshake
Healthy Chocolate Milkshake

This healthy chocolate milkshake has a healthier twist with coconut milk and Mejdool dates! It’s a healthy way to enjoy this classic.

We don’t usually label recipes as “healthy,” especially desserts — because the term almost implies there’s something unsatisfying about the food. It can also be subjective (like Really is something considered healthy?), and even large amounts of healthy food are no longer healthy. (Except maybe the celery.) But how do you label an all-whole-food milkshake recipe? The best search term we could find was “healthy,” so we went with that.

We wish we could make this healthy milkshake idea our own, but it’s an adaptation of this amazing almond milkshake from our friend Ashley from the Edible Perspective blog. We love that it’s fully sweetened with Medjool dates and made with coconut milk, making it suitable for the dairy-free, gluten-free, and refined sugar-free people in your life.

We’ve been obsessing over these healthy chocolate milkshakes.

A few quick caveats: #1. It tasted chocolate enough for our taste buds, but we’re not used to overly sweet foods. If you’re a lover of traditional milkshakes, you might need to stretch a little with this one. #2. This recipe makes enough for two modest milkshakes. While not the traditional giant milkshake portions, they’re a satisfying amount. #3 This is to be expected, so freeze the coconut milk a few hours before serving.
