The other day Alex and I invited some neighbors for a drink on the patio. Midway through the conversation, one confessed, “I have an unhealthy obsession with ranch sauce.” It led to quite a bit of discussion about it, but really: the ranch dip has pretty broad appeal. The conversation makes us think: Can we have one? in good health Ranch dressing obsession? Try this Greek Yogurt Dip, a flavorful fries dip that’s damn good for you too.

If you’re anything like me, you grew up eating this ranch dip, which is made with a packet of ranch seasoning (and no doubt many other preservatives) mixed with sour cream. What if ranch dip could be made with real food ingredients and pantry condiments? Like a Greek yogurt dip with everyday spices?

This got Alex and my wheels turning, and we came up with this Ranch Greek Yogurt Dip recipe. It’s made with Greek yogurt and spices you’ll likely have in your spice cabinet: no random preservatives here! Here are the ingredients you will need:

  • shallot
  • greek yogurt: preferably whole milk yogurt for its creamy texture and rich flavor
  • garlic powder
  • Dried dill
  • salt and pepper

This delicious and easy to make Greek Yogurt Dip! With a few real food ingredients, this healthy snack takes just 5 minutes to put together.


  • 1 large shallot (2 tablespoons chopped)*
  • 2 cups (18 ounces) 2% or Greek whole milk yoghurt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons dried dill
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • Freshly ground black pepper

  1. Chop the shallot.
  2. Mix the shallot with the remaining ingredients. If your Greek yogurt is very thick, you can stir in a few teaspoons of water until it reaches the desired consistency. Serve immediately. Keep refrigerated.

Remarks

*You can also use Homemade Ranch Seasoning for this dip. Mix 2 tablespoons ranch seasoning with 2 cups Greek yogurt, 2 teaspoons white vinegar, and a few pinches of salt to taste. Add a little water, if necessary bring to a creamy consistency (depending on the yoghurt brand).
