Here’s a pizza topping idea that always gets rave reviews for its handful of colorful veggies and savory flavor: this one Greek pizza with feta! There’s nothing quite like the combination of flavorful artichoke hearts, refreshing tomatoes, garlic spinach, salted olives and feta cheese. We love a good vegetarian pizza and this is the one we use the most. It’s destined to be the hit of your pizza night!

Ingredients for Greek Feta Pizza

Greek pizza isn’t authentically Greek, it’s classic Italian pizza with Mediterranean-style toppings. Many restaurants and pizzerias serve a version of this pizza and use different toppings. We’ve adapted these with the ingredients we like to see on a Greek pizza, but feel free to customize them to suit your tastes if you prefer different ones. Here are the items you will need:

  • Pizza dough: Our favorites are Best Pizza Dough, Thin Crust Pizza Dough, and Baked Pizza Dough, but there are a few other options below
  • Pizza sauce: This homemade pizza sauce is a must! The taste is the best you will ever have (we promise)
  • Grated mozzarella cheese: holds everything together like glue
  • feta cheese: the feta is a must! He just gives the right salty flavor to the cake
  • baby spinach
  • Kalamata olives (Optional)
  • artichoke hearts
  • Red onion
  • cherry tomatoes
  • Dried oregano
  • Fresh basilFor garnish

Again, you can customize to your own taste if you prefer Greek pizza with different ingredients. Other options include sundried tomatoes, roasted red peppers, cured meats, or chicken.

For the pizza dough

The trick to the best Greek pizza? Homemade pizza dough. There are several pizza dough options that we have developed over the years: the first is our workhorse and the best for making amazing artisan pizzas. The best way to do this is with a pizza stone. Or, if you prefer, try one of our other methods for the dough: like a thick crust pizza or a large plate pizza, it’s 3 pizzas in 1! Here are the pizza dough options:

  • Best Pizza Dough: The Standard! This pizza dough makes a medium-sized, artisan-style pizza; It works best on a pizza stone. A pizza peel is helpful to transfer the dough to the stone (see below).
  • Thin crust pizza dough: This variation is a little easier because you can roll it out instead of stretching it.
  • Pizza Oven Dough: Do you have a pizza oven? This is the dough recipe for you.
  • Perfect Skillet Pizza: Make your pizza in a cast iron skillet! Takes a little longer but doesn’t require any special tools. Makes a medium sized pizza.
  • BEST BBQ PIZZA: This makes a recipe the size of 3 pizzas on a large baking sheet: perfect for serving a crowd!

Homemade pizza sauce is a must

The key to this Greek pizza? Homemade Pizza Sauce! Although you can use a store-bought sauce if you like, we highly recommend making the homemade version. The taste is unreal! Here’s what you need to know:

  • Fire roasted tomatoes and garlic work magic. One spoonful and you’ll sing its praises! Fire Roasted Canned Tomatoes have a sweet, smoky flavor straight out of the can. They are important for the taste, so it is worth looking for them! Look for canned tomatoes at your local grocery store: they’re becoming increasingly popular and are sold by several different brands.
  • It takes 5 minutes in a blender! It doesn’t need to be simmered: just put everything in a blender and whisk. This is one of our most popular recipes on the site!

If you choose the standard pizza dough recipe, the following tools will come in handy for baking the bottom. Again, if you selected the skillet pizza or skillet pizza recipes above, no additional tools are needed!
