Tips for threading fruit skewers
Fruit skewers are easy to make and you can go in so many different directions! Go for a fruit rainbow or opt for a more monochromatic color with just 2 or 3 fruit colors. The way you cut the fruit also changes the look! Here are some tips and ideas for threading skewers:
- A skewer of 12 inches or less is a good size. Avoid very long skewers as they are difficult to eat (especially for children).
- Pre-cut fruit allows for quick preparation. We have pre-sliced pineapples and watermelons here that you can easily find in the produce section of your grocery store. Or you cut larger fruits: How to cut pineapple and watermelon.
- Cut strawberries into heart shapes if you like. Cut a notch at the top when you remove the stems and you’ve got a heart shape in an instant! It’s pretty on a skewer.
- Pick a topic. are you going rainbow Red, white and blue? Everything is allowed in the land of skewers: be creative.
- Use cookie cutters. wanna be too cute Use cookie cutters to cut out shapes (like stars or hearts) from the watermelon or melon.
