How to make this fruit-infused water recipe

Preparing this fruit-infused water recipe is nearly as easy as throwing fruit in the water. But there are a few tricks that help bring out the flavor. Allow the flavors to meld in the fridge for about 1 hour before drinking. We found this to be particularly true with this fruit infused water, although some of our other infused water recipes tasted great right off the bat. So think a little ahead with this recipe. Otherwise it’s easy!

How to prepare fruit water:

  1. Determine the fruits you want to use. You can use whatever fruits and herbs you like: we used 1 orange, a handful of strawberries and a handful of basil.
  2. Thinly slice the oranges and strawberries. Place them at the bottom of a pitcher with the basil.
  3. Use a wooden spoon to mash (lightly crush) fruits and herbs to release their juices.
  4. Add 8 cups of cold water and refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving.

How to grow fresh herbs

This water uses a handful of fresh basil or mint: and it’s so much more fun to grow yourself! We grow herbs all summer long and one of the most satisfying things is just walking around the garden and picking some herbs. You don’t even need space in the garden: you can easily grow herbs in pots as long as you have a sunny Sims! And adding herbs to your cooking is a healthy flavor addition without adding calories. You can find all of our tips below How to grow herbs.

Why Make Fruit Infused Water Recipes?

First of all: It is incredibly beautiful! This fruit-infused water recipe is perfect for entertaining. It’s also incredibly refreshing! The slightly sweet and aromatic taste of this fruit-infused water is the only reason.

But drinking plenty of water is always a good thing! It’s fantastic for your health. Fruit-infused water seems to be a lot more special than tap water, making it a great substitute for soda or other sugary drinks. There’s no sugar at all: it’s just fruit, herbs and water!

What about the acidity in citrus juices?

Drinking acidic liquids like orange juice and lemon juice can damage your tooth enamel over time, but only if you drink them very frequently. If you only drink this fruit-infused water occasionally, this shouldn’t be a problem. If you drink citrus-infused water every day, try drinking it through a straw to avoid contact with your teeth. You can also use less citrus overall: you can cut down to ½ an orange in this recipe.
