Frozen vs Classic Daiquiri

What is a daiquiri? A daiquiri is a family of cocktails whose main ingredients are rum, citrus juice (usually lime), and a sweetener. A classic daiquiri is actually not frozen at all! Invented in Cuba in the 1800s, it is shaken and strained in a cocktail glass.

Frozen daiquiris mix ice with cocktail ingredients, creating a smoothie-like texture. Frozen daiquiris of all colors and flavors became popular in America in the 1990s, the most popular of which is the ubiquitous frozen strawberry daiquiri.

The rum to use

This frozen daiquiri is pretty forgiving when it comes to alcohol quality since it’s frozen. But with every drink, we recommend using at least one medium priced alcohol if you can This is usually consistent with quality and is a good way to ensure great flavor.

The traditional type of rum in a daiquiri is white rum, which we recommend here. This is not only important for the taste, but also guarantees the bright white color of the drink. Using aged rum or dark rum tastes good but colors the drink: so be careful!

This recipe makes 2 glasses, which is great for making for you and your partner while sipping daiquiris and watching the sun go down. (That’s what you do, right?) But if you’re serving at a party, multiply those amounts to get more servings at the same time! Use the 2x button Where 3x button in the recipe below. Depending on your mixer you may be able to install 4x Recipe.

The ability to mix multiple drinks with the blender is a major benefit of the frozen daiquiri over a classic daiquiri made in a cocktail shaker. A cocktail shaker can only hold 2 drinks at a time, which takes time to prepare for the conversation.
