Here’s a bold, rich, icy coffee drink—and so easy to make at home: iced coffee! There are many ways to make an iced coffee, such as a frappé or even an iced moka. But this recipe is quick and easy with only 3 ingredients! Grab some leftover strong coffee, ice, and a blender to make this easy and refreshing coffee drink.

What’s in Iced Coffee?

Iced coffee is a drink made by mixing coffee with ice and sugar. It’s similar to a smoothie, an iced drink made from a mixture of instant coffee, sugar, and water or milk. This drink is even easier because you only need three ingredients:

  • strong coffee (see below)
  • Ice
  • Sugar

This drink is so quick and easy to make that it has become a popular caffeinated treat for the afternoon or especially in the summer! The recipe below makes a good medium sized drink, but feel free to double it if you prefer a large drink closer to the size you would find in a coffee shop.

How do you make strong coffee

What is the definition of strong coffee? Here are some methods for brewing a cup of coffee that work in this iced coffee recipe. It should be strong enough for the flavor of the coffee to come out, so a regular pot of coffee won’t quite do the trick.

  • Use 2x the set of your usual coffee method. Try our pourover or french press coffee methods.
  • Use a moka pot. The Moka pot (aka Bialetti) makes strong espresso-like coffee. You can use straight moka pot coffee or drizzle it down lightly (one recipe almost makes two of these drinks).

For garnish

If you like, you can top your iced coffee with a dollop of whipped cream. We don’t think it’s necessary, but it makes a fun topping! Here are some options:
