How to make tomato dip

This tomato dip is a new version of one of our old favorites that we adapted from a friend. It’s quick to assemble (5 minutes, no cleaning required), but that’s how it is Then yummy. Our circle of friends started making this tomato dip for parties and baby showers. We’ve been serving it up a lot lately—as an appetizer for a couple of dear friends, as part of a summer picnic on the porch with my in-laws. And it’s a hit every time. Everyone always asks, “Will you bring the tomato dip?” That’s when we knew it was a winner.

For this version of the tomato sauce, we simplified the original to use only 5 ingredients while keeping the same basic flavor. And for this one we decided to serve it with toasted bread as a dip! The toast adds a nice touch (thanks to Alex for the brilliant idea). Of course, you can serve it with anything you like – bread, crackers, crostini, veggies, etc. Not only do we love this tomato dip for the flavor, but also for its simplicity and ease of preparation. It also works for a variety of diets: gluten free [sans bread], dairy free, vegetarian and vegan. Basically, it’s the perfect party appetizer or quick lunch idea!
