What you need to make raspberry lemonade
Preparing raspberry lemonade is very simple: you don’t even have to simmer the raspberry syrup on the stove! You will simply mix the berries with water and sugar (a brilliant idea by Alex). Only 3 ingredients are actually needed, except ice and water. Here’s what you need:
- 8 lemons
- 1 cup raspberries
- 1 cup sugar
The best way to squeeze lemons
We’re not going to lie to each other: it may take some time to squeeze 8 lemons! So keep that in mind. Our favorite juicer makes it fast: and you won’t hurt your hands by squeezing that hard. Here are the best options we recommend:
- First choice: a citrus press. This type of juicer is incredibly efficient and ends up producing even more juice than other types. This is the juicer we use. This is the best of all methods after making over 300 cocktails.
- Second best choice: a portable juicer. The next best juicer is the ridged top type (similar to this one).
A few tips for straining raspberries
The only other time-consuming part of making raspberry lemonade is straining the raspberries! You will put them in a blender with lukewarm water and sugar and then puree them until you get a puree. Here’s what to expect when you get tired:
- Use a fine mesh strainer. You want to remove any seeds here, so a fine-mesh strainer is essential to achieve a smooth, syrupy texture.
- Use a spatula to gradually press the syrup through. It takes longer than you think! But keep forcing with a spatula until all the seeds are removed. That’s it!
