peach sangria

This summer, Alex and I delved into signature drinks more than ever. Adding a drink pairing really makes it more fun! Taco night is even better with frozen lime daiquiris, 4th of July is more festive with frozen sangria, and a more festive porch night with frozen margaritas. So when we stumbled upon a batch of peaches, of course we had to make a peach-themed drink! Try our peach sangria recipe: slightly sweet, refreshing and full of delicious peaches, raspberries and fresh mint.

White Sangria vs. Red Sangria

Sangria is a traditional wine punch originating in Spain. A classic sangria is made with red wine and chopped fruit, and often orange juice or brandy. But there are also many variations of sangria: peach sangria, white sangria, rose sangria, apple cider sangria, etc. This peach sangria recipe is a White sangria Recipe, ie white wine is used instead of red wine. It’s a light and refreshing twist on the classic.

How to make peach sangria

To create our take on peach sangria, we looked no further than our favorite Spanish chef, Jose Andres. The “Spanish” way of preparing sangria recommended by Chef Jose is as follows:

  • Mix the fruit with the sugar and leave to macerate for 1 hour (keep at room temperature and chop).
  • Add white wine and cognac.
  • Serve with a splash of sparkling water.
  • Always, always eat the fruit!

With these instructions in mind, we created a deliciously refreshing peach sangria recipe! The result is slightly sweet and very “drinkable”, with a fruity note. It only has a slight peach flavor. If you’re looking for a stronger flavor, use peach liqueur (like peach schnapps) instead of brandy. It really is the perfect summer drink.

Garnish with lots of fresh mint

This peach sangria uses a handful of fresh mint as a garnish. While it’s easy to get it at the store, it’s so much easier and cheaper to grow it yourself! Alex and I grow herbs all summer and one of the most satisfying things is just walking around the garden and picking some herbs.

You don’t even need space in the garden: you can easily grow herbs in pots as long as you have a sunny Sims! Adding herbs to your cooking is a healthy flavor addition without adding calories. For our advice on growing herbs see How to grow herbs.
