All it takes is 5 minutes to mix everything in a bowl! The amount of flavor you get from the humble ingredients will blow your mind. Move over carefully whipped pan sauces. This Lemon Dill Sauce is ready to shine! Here’s how to make it and how to serve it.

This dill sauce only takes 5 minutes to mix and is so delicious you’ll want to use it on almost anything! Many dill sauces are cooked, but this one is just a matter of stirring! To make Lemon Dill Sauce, simply mix these ingredients together:

  • Fresh dill. It’s important to get fresh dill for this recipe. However, if you are in a hurry, you can substitute 2 teaspoons of fresh dill for 2 teaspoons of dried dill.
  • Mayonnaise and Greek yogurt. The dill sauce is traditionally very rich: we reduced the richness a bit with Greek yogurt.
  • Lemon. Fresh lemon is the key to the zesty taste.
  • garlic powder and onion powder. These spices add great flavor.

How to make a lemon dill sauce: some tips!

There are just a few tips to know about this sauce before mixing it:

  • Adjust the water to your desired consistency. There can be a big difference in thickness between brands of Greek yogurt. Add just enough water to get the right consistency: or a little more if needed.
  • Double if necessary. This sauce makes just under ¾ cup. If you plan to use it in a recipe that calls for more, prepare 1.5 or 2 times the amount.

  • Salmon: This is the best sauce for salmon! Try it on baked salmon, grilled salmon, or cedar plank salmon.
  • Shrimp: This makes a fabulous dip or drizzle for shrimp. Try shrimp with garlic butter, grilled shrimp, grilled shrimp skewers,
  • Fish: Trout, tilapia or other baked fish also work well.
  • Potatoes: Try Lemon Dill Sauce as a dip or as a drizzle for french fries, baked potato wedges, sweet potatoes, sweet potato fries, or grilled potato wedges.
  • Broccoli or Cauliflower: These bouquets work well with lemon and dill! Try it with roasted cauliflower, steamed cauliflower with herbs, sautéed broccoli, or epic roasted broccoli.
  • Asparagus: Another key vegetable for this sauce! Try roasted asparagus, sautéed asparagus, or grilled asparagus.

  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped dill
  • ¼ cup greek yogurt
  • 6 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon onion powder
  • ⅛ teaspoon kosher salt
  • 2 teaspoons the water

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the sauce ingredients and add the water last. Use the water to bring it to a fluffy, watery consistency. (You may need a little more depending on the brand of yogurt.) Enjoy immediately or refrigerate for up to 2 weeks.
