Here’s what you need to make it happen!

Ingredients of this Banana Avocado Smoothie

This Avocado Banana Smoothie has that better creamy texture as it contains lots of creamy fruit. Bananas add a fantastic texture to smoothies: in fact, we use them in almost every smoothie we’ve made. Avocado also adds richness and creaminess with its smooth texture. So a smoothie with double Bananas and avocados? It’s delicious and perfect. Here’s what you need:

  • Ripe avocado (Skip this recipe if you don’t have blackberries!)

How to safely pit an avocado

The Banana Avocado Smoothie Recipe used only ½ year Lawyer, which makes it perfect to use the other half of the ones already used. Have you ever wondered what is the best way to pit an avocado? It’s important to practice safe avocado slicing techniques! Here’s the best way we found:

  1. Slice lengthways around the avocado. Twist the two halves to separate them.
  2. Take a towel and put the avocado on it. In one gentle but quick motion, tap the knife into the pit of the avocado.
  3. Do not remove the avocado stone by hand! Instead, pull the cutting board close to your body, then place the core against the back edge of the cutting board and pull back to free it from the knife.
  4. Use a large spoon to scoop the avocado out of the skin.

A tip for mixing!

Here’s a tip for mixing up this Banana Avocado Smoothie: or any smoothie recipe, really! It’s easier for the blender to have the soft objects close to the blender blades. When you start with frozen foods, the blender blades can get stuck. Here’s what to do:

  • Blend soft foods at room temperature first. In this case, those are avocados, bananas, and green veggies. Mix them with water first.
  • Then add the frozen products and puree until smooth. This avoids jamming the blender blades with frozen fruit and ice.

Smoothie Storage

Smoothies are best consumed immediately. But you can also prepare it in advance! This avocado banana smoothie will keep for up to 1 day when stored in a sealed container or mason jar with a lid. It can separate, which is perfectly natural. Shake it and you’re good to go!

Adding more protein to a banana and avocado smoothie

This basic avocado banana smoothie recipe doesn’t have a lot of protein: it’s just fruits and veggies! To fill up on protein, here are some ideas:

  • Greek yogurt. Add ½ cup Greek yogurt and reduce to ¼ cup water. Add more water while mixing. ½ cup of Greek yogurt adds 17 grams of protein to this smoothie!
  • Chia seeds. Boost Plant-Based Protein and Fiber with Chia Seeds! Two tablespoons of chia seeds add 4 grams of protein and 11 grams of fiber (see this chia seed smoothie).
  • almond or cashew butter. Add a dab of nut butter for another protein adder! Add 1 tablespoon for every 4 grams of protein. Here we recommend almond or cashew butter: peanut butter can be a bit too strong.

Avocado Nutrition

Why eat avocados? The humble avocado is packed with good ingredients. It’s most popular with avocado toast and guacamole: but this smoothie works, too! Here are some nutritional benefits you’ll enjoy:

  • Packed with “good” heart-healthy fats. Avocados are packed with monounsaturated oleic acid, a heart-healthy fatty acid.
  • Rich in fiber. Avocados are high in fiber; one serving contains 7 grams or about 25% of your daily requirement.
  • Loaded with vitamins and nutrients. They are also packed with a long list of vitamins.
