do you have lavender Try this DIY lavender tea! Did you know that you can make your own herbal tea without having to buy tea bags? All you need are dried or fresh herbs and boiling water! Alex and I love homemade herbal teas with fresh rosemary, thyme and mint, so we thought the concept would work for lavender too. And it was delicious! Lavender flower tea has a subtle floral undertone and is sweetened with honey, a deliciously calming infusion. It also has potential health benefits. That’s how it’s done!

How to make lavender tea

Do you have lavender and don’t know what to do with it? You can use fresh or dried flowers to make lavender tea. Don’t worry: this tea isn’t so strong that it tastes like grandma’s soap. It contains just enough lavender to have a subtle floral flavor at the end of each sip. The honey balances it out nicely, giving the buds just the right balance (you can use maple syrup or agave syrup for a vegan tea). How to prepare lavender tea:

  1. Boil: Boil a pot of water. We use a kettle (which we also use for our morning coffee).
  2. Put lavender in the tea strainer: Place fresh or dried lavender in a tea infuser or infuser.
  3. Soaking: Fill a cup with boiling water. Add the tea strainer and let steep for 5 minutes.
  4. Add sweetener: Add a pinch of honey (or agave). This step is necessary for the best aroma, otherwise the lavender will be too overwhelming.

Where can I find a tea strainer?

With most of our herbal tea recipes, you can simply add the fresh herb directly to boiling water. But this recipe calls for a tea infuser, just like you would use with a loose leaf tea you would buy at the store. Tea strainers or tea strainers are easy to find in stores, or you can find them online here. With this tea strainer you can also prepare invigorating ginger tea.

Benefits of Lavender Tea

Lavender oil has been used medicinally for years. We’re not doctors or nutritionists, but here are some potential lavender tea benefits according to the following professional sources:

  • Can help with digestive problems. Some studies show that lavender tea can help with digestive issues like vomiting, upset stomach, and nausea (according to Medical News Today).
  • Can improve your mood. Some studies suggest that lavender tea may calm your nerves and reduce anxiety (according to Healthline).

We cannot promise that it will cure all your ailments. But we can’t say that sipping a cup of lavender tea is positively calming!
