What’s in a Pickle Jalapeno Margarita?

The two main ingredients of this recipe are of course already in the title! This fresh vegetable pairs perfectly with one of the most classic cocktails of all time. Invented in Mexico in the 1930s, the margarita has enjoyed great popularity around the world since its invention. The classic definition of this famous cocktail comes from the International Bartender Association’s official IBA cocktails: just tequila, triple sec and lime juice. For this tour you need:

jalapeno pepper

How spicy is this margarita? jalapeno Peppers vary

If you’re used to using jalapeno peppers, you’ll know that peppers can vary in heat! This drink will therefore vary depending on the peppers and how many slices of peppers you use. Here are some general usage guidelines:

  • 3 thin slices of jalapeno pepper make a medium hot drink. Add more for a super flavorful drink or use less for a mild heat.
  • Remove the seeds for a smoother drink. This reduces the heat even further. Some peppers have areas with fewer seeds. If you want the seeds, slice more and use slices with more seeds.

Confusing tips

How do you get the cucumber and jalapeno flavor into this margarita? Confuse with! Blending is the process of crushing a fruit, vegetable or herb before using it in a drink. It releases the juices (or essential oils for herbs) for you to taste in the drink. Here are some tips for confusing:

  • Do it right in the shaker. Place the cucumber and jalapeno slices in the bottom of a shaker. If you don’t have one, you can use a large metal mug or bowl.
  • Use a wooden cocktail pestle or unfinished wooden spoon. Then gently puree the vegetables several times to add the juice directly into the drink. Leave them in the shaker while you shake the drink.
