The crown and coke ratio
How to Make the Best Crown and Coke Recipe: Use the Right Ratio! It’s easy to mix up a cola-heavy version of this drink. Use the right ratio to get the right combination of flavors! The Crown and Coke ratio is:
- 2 ounces of Crown Royal Whiskey for 4 ounces of Coke =
- 1 part Krone to 2 parts Coke
Of course, if you prefer a stronger drink, you can increase the ratio by half an ounce or even an ounce of Crown Royal. But that’s default and you can customize your drink from there.

Use lemon to add sparkle to this Crown Royal cocktail
Most rum and coke or crown and coke recipes don’t call for lemon juice. But we found it absolutely necessary for the taste. The sweetness of cola can be overwhelming, so a squeeze of lemon cuts the sweetness down with the acidity.
Use the juice of 1 lemon slice (1 tsp) or go up to ½ ounce of fresh lemon juice (1 Tbsp). You can taste the difference!

Make Crown Royal cocktail variations!
You can create endless variations of Crown Royal cocktails by varying the type of crown! This Canadian whiskey was launched in 1939: it was a homage to King George VI and Queen Elizabeth’s royal tour of Canada (a fact The crown Fans will definitely enjoy!). It was only available in Canada until 1964, and then was introduced in the United States in the 1960s. Here are some recommended types of Crown Royal for use in this drink:
- Apple Crown Royal: Crisp sparkling nuances
- The Peach royal crown: Fruity sweetness
- Vanilla King’s Crown: Warm softness
- Black Royal Crown: Powerful and aromatic (the whiskey is aged in charred oak casks)
A word of advice: we recommend you avoid this Maple King’s Crown. It had such a strong maple flavor that it overwhelmed the drink!
