Cold Brew Tea instructions are almost too easy to call a recipe! It takes 1 minute to assemble and 6 hours to brew. Here are the basic steps to make cold brew at home:

Cold Brew vs Iced Tea

How is the cold brew tea process different from traditional ice tea? Here are the main differences:

  • Iced tea is a little more convenient but faster (2.5 hours). The classic iced tea recipe calls for the tea to cool for 5 minutes. Then you add cold water and then put it in the fridge for 2 hours. It’s a bit more convenient, but faster overall.
  • Cold brew is simpler and has a milder taste. Cold brew tea is easier but takes a few more hours in the fridge (6 hours). But it’s worth it: you’ll find that cold brew has a slightly milder flavor than regular iced tea.

Variation: Cold Brewed Sweet Tea!

Do you want to make sweet tea? Sweet tea is a popular type of iced tea with added sweetener. It is very popular in the southern United States and other countries like Indonesia. You can also make sweet tea with this cold-brew tea method: even if you don’t heat it! Simply stir in ⅓ cup sugar until dissolved. This amount of sugar sweetens the tea just enough to bring out the strong flavor of black tea, but not so much that it’s syrupy.
