For the mozzarella

Oftentimes, fresh mozzarella balls can be deliciously chewy but rather bland. For this Caprese Skewers recipe, we wanted to boost the flavor of the mozzarella! All you have to do is toss the balls with a drizzle of olive oil, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, and salt: and it adds a big dose of flavor.

Also, keep that in mind when buying mozzarella ciliegin, the Italian word for this product. If you can find some, you can also use marinated mozzarella balls to add a tangy, herbal undertone.

Use homemade or store-bought balsamic glaze

Balsamic reduction is balsamic vinegar that has been heated and reduced until it thickens into a syrupy glaze. Caprese salad is often served with a touch of that drizzle (especially in American restaurants). For these caprese skewers, this adds nice visual interest as well as a flavorful kick to the flavor.

You can make an easy homemade balsamic glaze using balsamic vinegar, which takes about 10 minutes to cook down on the stovetop. It’s also very easy to find bottled balsamic frosting in the grocery store these days: and the taste isn’t drastically different from homemade. Do what works best for you!

Serve with caprese skewers

These caprese skewers are great for parties and will hold up well when seated at a buffet table. You can leave the caprese skewers at room temperature for up to 2 hours, then be sure to refrigerate them for the cheese.

You can store leftover skewers in the fridge for a few days, but keep in mind that basil can darken over time. If you make them in advance, don’t make them more than 3 hours in advance.
