How to make Cajun pizza

We hate picking favorites, but this Cajun pizza took first place among all the pizzas we’ve made in a recent taste test. The base of this pizza is spread with our favorite homemade pizza sauce, which takes just 5 minutes to whip up in the blender and tastes fantastic. The pizza sauce is sprinkled with Cajun spices to give it a flavorful kick! Then add the red onion, green pepper, spicy jalapeno pepper and corn. Best of all, it’s topped with smoky Gouda, giving it a meaty undertone. Of course, feel free to customize the pizza toppings to suit your own spice levels and ingredient preferences!

How do you make pizza dough

For that Cajun pizza dough, we have a few pizza dough recipes that you can make based on your taste and equipment. Our Best Pizza Dough is our preferred method; We make it with a stand mixer, but you can also knead it by hand. Our Easy Thin Crust method is similar but results in a thinner crust that you roll out. Or for even easier methods, you can try Sheet Pan Pizza or Cast Iron Pizza.

Here’s a video by Alex showing how to make and stretch Italian pizza dough. Fast forward to 1:45 minutes to watch the stretching process!

  2. Place a pizza stone in the oven and preheat to 500°F. OR preheat your pizza oven (this is the pizza oven we use).
  3. Prepare pizza sauce: Prepare homemade pizza sauce.
  4. Preparation of the toppings: Halve the jalapeño peppers, remove the seeds and cut into small cubes. Finely chop the red onion. chop pepper If the cheese isn’t already grated, grate it.
  5. Place the dough on the pizza peel:
  6. When the oven is done, dust a pizza peel with corn or semolina flour. (If you don’t have a pizza peel, you can use a rimmed baking sheet or the back of a rimmed baking sheet. But a pizza peel is worth the investment!) Roll out the dough in a circle; Watch this video for instructions. Then carefully place the dough on the pizza peel.
  7. Assemble pizza quickly: Spread the pizza sauce thinly over the dough, then sprinkle generously with Cajun seasoning. Sprinkle with smoked Gouda and mozzarella, if you like. Garnish with red onions, jalapenos, corn and green pepper (if using). Sprinkle with some kosher salt.
  8. Bake pizza: Using the pizza peel, place the pizza on the pizza stone and bake until the cheese and crust are golden brown, about 5-7 minutes (or 1 minute in a pizza oven).
