We talk a lot about pizza here. do we eat it for breakfast? Not really. But, because breakfast pizza is such a thing And Since it would be perfect for brunch, we thought of creating a recipe. Our local farmers market has a vendor who sells pizzas for breakfast: this one is similar to the one that always gets people jealous! I don’t eat pizza for breakfast, only large amounts of coffee, so I’d rather save it for lunch or even dinner. It’s really delicious and perfect for every meal you eat it! Read on for our recipe.

So what makes a good pizza for breakfast? There are, of course, countless ways to make one. As I mentioned earlier, I modeled this breakfast pizza after a pizza I saw at a BBQ pizza vendor at our local farmer’s market. This is of course a loose interpretation!

Since Alex and I mostly eat whole foods, we don’t often use meat on the pizza. So for this breakfast pizza, we decided to add a flavor that mimics sausage. If you know us well, you know that we are talking about dried fennel seeds! Since fennel is used in sausages, eating fennel automatically fools your brain into thinking it is eating meat. (That is, if you grew up eating sausages like we did!) We used this technique on our breakfast pizza to give it a meaty twist.

For our breakfast pizza sauce, we used our famous Easy Pizza Sauce. It only takes 5 minutes to make in a blender and we’ve been told by people they’ll never make another pizza sauce again. Fire roasted tomatoes, garlic, oregano, olive oil and salt combine in a truly magical way.

Of course, no breakfast pizza should be without scrambled eggs! We used our best method of scrambled eggs, then broke them up into crumbs and sprinkled them over the pizza. Top with a handful of diced green and red peppers and sliced ​​red onions, and you’re in business. This is hands down the best breakfast pizza we’ve ever made.

Now, we can’t talk about making breakfast pizza without making a note about the dough. To make the best breakfast pizza, you need to start with a great pizza dough. One of our next-level pizza dough tips is to use great flour! The flour we use is called Type 00 flour and there is a nice soft and fluffy dough. We buy our Tipo 00 flour online.

But our best advice: use a pizza stone! A pizza stone makes the pizza base crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Here’s the best pizza stone we recommend and a little more about pizza stone care. And to put the pizza dough right on that hot stone, we’re going to use a pizza peel! We recommend this Standard Pizza Shovel or this Conveyor Pizza Shovel. You can also bake on a baking sheet (or a rimless baking sheet), but it’s a little trickier. The pizza peel is the best tool for the job!

We have some pizza dough recipes that you can make according to your taste and equipment. Our best pizza dough is the one we used for this breakfast pizza: as you can see, we shaped it into a rectangular shape. We make it with a stand mixer, but you can also knead it by hand. Our Easy Thin Crust method is similar but results in a thinner crust that you roll out. The thin crust dough would also be perfect for breakfast pizza and makes them a little lighter too.

  1. Prepare pizza dough: Follow the Best Pizza Dough recipe to prepare the dough. (It takes about 15 minutes and 45 minutes to rest.)
  2. Place a pizza stone in the oven and preheat to 500°F. OR preheat your pizza oven (this is the pizza oven we use).
  3. Prepare pizza sauce: Prepare the pizza sauce 5 minutes.
  4. Preparation of the toppings: Finely chop the green pepper. Cut the red peppers into thin slices. Finely chop the red onion.
  5. Stir the eggs: In a medium bowl, crack the eggs and whisk well. Add 1 pinch of kosher salt. In a small pan, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Tilt the pan to make sure the entire pan is coated with oil. Pour the eggs. Keep the heat medium. If the eggs are just beginning to set, use a flat spatula to slowly scrape parts of the eggs and create wrinkles. Scrape occasionally until eggs form soft folds and remove from heat just before they are fully hardened. Using a spatula, break the eggs into small crumbles.
  6. Bake pizza: When the oven is done, dust a pizza peel with corn or semolina flour. (If you don’t have a pizza peel, you can use a rimmed baking sheet or the back of a rimmed baking sheet.   7. Spread the pizza sauce thinly over the dough with the back of a spoon. Add mozzarella cheese. Garnish with peppers, red onions and scrambled eggs. Sprinkle with fennel seeds and a few pinches of kosher salt.
  8. Use the pizza peel to carefully transfer the pizza onto the preheated pizza stone. Bake the pizza until the cheese and crust are golden brown, about 5 to 7 minutes in the oven (or 1 minute in a pizza oven). Cut into pieces and serve immediately.
