This bourbon cider cocktail has all the warm and cozy sensations with ginger pomegranate syrup, orange and cinnamon.
Ever heard of hygge (pronounced hoo-ga)? Alex and I first heard the word here and it has captured our imaginations ever since. That’s the Danish word for comfort, and the strategy behind how they survive the cold, dark winter months: roaring fires, fluffy sweaters, hot cider, lighting candles, playing games with friends and family. We absolutely love that there is a word for this concept. So we created a fall cocktail recipe to match: this Apple Cider Bourbon Cocktail! Read on for the recipe.

How to make this bourbon cocktail
For us, hygge is coming home at the moment after a long day at work, we work up a sweat and snuggle up in blankets and our pup Luna while watching a favorite show. The coming weeks will be fun with the family over games, hot chocolate and of course this apple cider bourbon cocktail. Because if anything tastes like hygge, it’s this sweet ruby red spice drink.
When Alex surprised me with the idea of making a ginger pomegranate syrup flavored with cinnamon and cloves and then mixing it with apple cider and bourbon to create this cocktail. He’s the mixologist for both of us and I’m a willing guinea pig. He mixed it live for me on our last podcast, so I was a bit nervous when I took the first sip. Thankfully, it hit the mark: lightly flavored and, well, totally cosy.
Have you heard of hygge and if so, have you tried it? This will be our strategy to get through the coming cold months – we’ll let you know how it goes!
