  • Cashew: Using nuts in a smoothie allows it to contain plant-based protein and keep it healthy. OR you can use…
  • Maple Syrup and Lemon Juice: This amplifies the sweet cake vibes. You can use maple to taste, but we like 1 tbsp (for two smoothies).
  • Ice: Lots of ice helps add texture and body.
  • Water: Just a little water and you can mix everything!

Make it nut free!

You can make this spinach smoothie nut-free by making these changes:

  • Replace the cashews with 1 banana + 1 ½ cups frozen mango or pineapple. Use a room temperature banana and frozen fruit. Depending on your blender, you may need to add the fruit twice to blend it.
  • Omit maple syrup. Due to the sweetness of the fruit, you do not need any additional sweeteners.

Smoothie Storage

Smoothies are best consumed immediately. But this spinach smoothie actually lasts 1-2 days in the fridge when stored in an airtight container or mason jar with a lid. It can separate, which is perfectly natural. Shake it and you’re good to go!

  • 1 big green apple
  • ½ cup the water
  • ¼ cup raw cashew nuts (or 1 banana and 1 ½ cups frozen mango or pineapple, omit the maple)
  • 4 cups Baby spinach or chopped spinach, loosely wrapped
  • ten ice cubes
  • 1 tbsp pure maple syrup
  • 1½ tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice (1/2 Lemon)

  1. Cut the apple into pieces, leaving the skin on. Place everything in a blender and blend until smooth, stopping and scraping if necessary. (If using the fruit option, try adding frozen fruit in 2 batches and blending between them.)
