OK, not really! But doesn’t it sometimes seem like “healthy that” or “clean eating that” products don’t all make those claims? This really is the perfect recipe for brilliant green smoothies… and while we can’t promise it’s life changing, it sure is delicious! Here’s how to do it.

There’s a part of us that believes there is a magical “answer” to all the challenges of self-sufficiency and good nutrition. If I could only force myself to do {insert healthy practice} I would be leaner, healthier, and happier. Unfortunately, there is no magic green tonic that will make life healthy. simply. But the Are Things you can do to make eating nutrient-dense, immune-boosting foods easier and more delicious.

  • It has the perfect sweet cake flavor. So many green smoothies can be so loaded with greens that they taste bitter. This one is a perfectly cute art.
  • It contains healthy leafy greens and apples. Are you trying to eat more leafy greens? The spinach leaves provide the bright green color here, and the green apple brings great flavor and lots of vitamins.
  • It has nuts for protein and to keep things stuffed. Blending cashews into this smoothie loads it up with plant-based protein and helps keep you full.
  • It’s herbal. Because this smoothie is dairy-free, it’s 100% plant-based (WFPB) and vegan: perfect for plant-based breakfasts and snacks!

How to make a bright green smoothie + storage tips

This bright green smoothie gets tangy and tangy, just sweet enough, with green apples and spinach. This really is our new favorite green smoothie! The spiciness is balanced with sweetness, and it has a fluffy but creamy texture that’s easy to drink and a bright, vibrant green color. There’s not much you can do with this smoothie, but here are some tips:

  • Just mix all the ingredients together! It works in a standard or large Vitamix-style blender. Or you can make half a recipe in an immersion or small blender for 1 serving.
  • Can you make a green smoothie ahead of time? Yes. You can prepare it ahead and store it in the fridge until ready to serve. You just need to stir before eating. This is useful for busy mornings when you want to mix it up the night before.
  • Use any type of bland leafy greens you like. The recipe calls for spinach, but if you have other bland-tasting leafy greens (even kale), feel free to use them here. Regular kale can even work, you just need to balance the flavor to make sure it’s not too bitter.

We can’t promise it’ll make you leaner or healthier or immune to all diseases, but it tastes amazing and is literally packed with nutrients. Alex and I just need one smoothie recipe, and here it is. Brilliant green smoothie repeated. (Oh, and Larson loves it too.)

The description

This bright green smoothie is the perfect immunity-boosting drink with a sweet, tangy flavor of green apple, tons of spinach and high-protein nuts.


  • 1 big green apple
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup
  • ½ cup the water
  • ¼ cup raw cashew nuts
  • 3 cups spinach
  • ten ice cubes
  • 1 tbsp freshly squeezed lemon juice

  1. Core the apple and cut into pieces, leaving the skin on.
  2. Place all ingredients in a blender and puree. Add the lemon juice and blend again for a few seconds. Taste and add a little more maple syrup and/or lemon juice, if you like. Serve immediately or refrigerate for up to 1 day.
