how to make balsamic strawberries

Italians have a cute way of serving fresh strawberries with a little balsamic vinegar. It may sound strange, but the acidity in vinegar is the perfect complement to sweet berries. To make balsamic strawberries, simply slice the strawberries and let them sit in a bowl with some balsamic vinegar and maple syrup or sugar. The traditional method is to use sugar, but we love eating naturally sweet desserts and this is the perfect opportunity to use maple syrup (you can use honey or agave if you prefer). Another traditional ingredient of balsamic strawberries is the addition of black pepper! You can add a few twists of freshly ground black pepper and it adds an intriguing element.

We like to serve balsamic strawberries over sweetened Greek yogurt with a little maple syrup. Then we finely chop the fresh mint and sprinkle it on top. It’s one of the best treats already and tastes like summer. It’s at the top of our favorite healthy strawberry desserts. And here’s a little video we put together of us making this summertime treat!
