Almond Butter Smoothie

Here’s a flavorful frosted mush: this one Almond Butter Smoothie! If you’re an almond butter lover like us, you’ll love this way of making it the main ingredient in a smoothie. Of course, you can add a dollop of AB to any type of smoothie you like. But this one takes the almond flavor and combines it with banana, pineapple and chai spices for an irresistibly drinkable beverage. How to do it!

Ingredients for an almond butter smoothie

This almond butter smoothie combines sweet fruit with hazelnut almond butter for a protein-packed drink. Inspired by our friend’s almond butter company (hey, Revival!), we combined a fluffy take on chai spices with nut butters for a pleasant and intriguing flavor nuance. Here’s what you need to assemble this:

  • frozen pineapple
  • banana
  • almond butter
  • Choice of milk: we love non-dairy oat milk
  • vanilla extract
  • Cinammon
  • Ginger
  • cardamom or clove
  • Ice

Mix it up and you will be pleasantly surprised by the sweet and tangy taste. The size is slightly smaller than most of our smoothies, so you can probably make the whole smoothie yourself! But it also makes 2 small smoothies if you want to save one for later. Speaking of…

Smoothie Storage

Can we make smoothies ahead of time? Yes! This almond butter smoothie tastes best after 1 day in the fridge, so you can mix it up and enjoy later. You can get by with a storage time of 2 days, just shake before serving as it will naturally separate once chilled.

Add even more protein

Want to add more protein to this almond butter smoothie? This is useful if you plan on drinking this smoothie as a meal replacement. Here are a few ideas:

  • Chia seeds: You can add plant-based protein and fiber to chia seeds: 2 tablespoons of chia seeds add 4 grams of protein and 11 grams of fiber.
  • Vanilla Protein Powder: Protein powder also works in this smoothie. We use this protein powder with natural ingredients and not too artificial taste.

More almond butter smoothies

You can add almond butter to many different smoothies to add protein and a depth of nutty flavor. It’s often a better choice than peanut butter, which can have a stronger peanut flavor. Keep in mind that adding nut butters will dull the color of a smoothie slightly and can sometimes rival the purity of fruity flavors. But it’s fun to experiment! Here are some other smoothies that 1-2 tablespoons of almond butter work well with:
