Fried chicken wings seasoned with Old Bay spices and butter, then served with cocktail sauce.

What’s a Super Bowl without wings? In this chicken wings recipe, we season the wings with Old Bay, a popular crab seasoning that goes just as well with chicken.

Yes, serving cocktail sauce with chicken wings is a little weird, but it’s good! Especially with the Old Bay. However, if you’re a blue cheese or ranch dip loyalist, we still have something for you.

You can never have too many wings!

ingredients

  • 3 lb chicken wingseparate tips from Drummettes

  • 8th tablespoon (1/2 cup or 1 stick) unsalted butter

  • 1 tablespoon Old Bay seasoningplus more for dusting

  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

  • Cocktail sauce for dipping

method

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F:

Let the wings come to room temperature (otherwise the sauce will be harder to spread on them). Pat chicken wings dry.

  2. Make Old Bay sauce:

Melt the butter in a small saucepan and stir in the Old Bay and lemon juice. Let cool until lukewarm to the touch.

  3. Mix the sauce again and toss the chicken wings in half of the sauce.
  4. Bake:

Place the wings in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, aluminum foil, or Silpat and bake at 225°F for 25 minutes.

  5. Grilling:

Remove the wings from the oven and turn on the grill. Place a grate about 6 inches below the grill. Flip the wings on the baking sheet and place under the broiler for 3-4 minutes, or until nicely browned.

  6. Serve:

Pour in the remaining sauce and arrange on a plate. Dust with more Old Bay and serve with your favorite cocktail sauce.
