Monster Cookies
Monster Cookies

Monster Cookies, the kitchen sink of cookies, with M’s and M’s, chocolate chips, peanut butter, nuts and toffee chips.

monster cookies. Ultimate chippers. Great cookies. No matter what you call them, kids love them. A cookie packed with peanut butter, chocolate and candy, a must-have Halloween cookie and perfect for any kid-centric event.

But adults shouldn’t miss it either. While making this classic kid cookie, I decided to make a few changes for an adult version of The Monster. Spiked with Heath toffee bar chips, dark chocolate, and pecans, it’s a very sophisticated sugar rush.

ingredients

  • Dough ingredients:
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, room temperature

  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter

  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar

  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar

  • 2 large eggs, room temperature

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

  • 1 teaspoon of salt

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

  • Kids Monster Cookies mix-ins for the whole batch
  • 1/2 cup butterscotch chips

  • 1 1/4 cups of M&M’s

  • 1 cup chocolate chips

  • Adult Monster Cookies mix-ins for the whole batch
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans

  • 1 cup chocolate chips (preferably dark chocolate)

  • 1 cup chopped heath bar bits

method

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F. Cream together the butter and peanut butter. Add the sugar and beat on medium speed until well incorporated and fluffy.

  2. Add the eggs and vanilla and beat on medium speed for about 2 minutes.

  3. Add the baking powder and beat for 30 seconds. Be sure to scrape the sides and bottom to ensure all of the butter is well incorporated.

  4. Gradually add the flour and salt until incorporated, but do not overmix.

  5. Add the mix-ins for either the kids version or the adult version. OR divide the dough in half and cut the measurements of the mixed ingredients in half for half adult cookies and half kid cookies.

  6. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place round pastry spoons on top and bake for 10-12 minutes or until lightly golden. Make sure to let them cool on the baking sheet before moving them.
