Hot Dog Stroganoff
Hot Dog Stroganoff

Looking for a different kind of hog dog recipe? Try hot dog stroganoff with sour cream sauce and serve with pasta. Easy to make, easy on the budget and kids love it!

I had to laugh when I first heard about this recipe from my friend Heidi H.

In fact, the thought of it wasn’t particularly appetizing at first glance. You take slices of hot dogs, fry them in butter with onions and add sour cream.

Heidi’s mom Jill used to make these so-called “fancy hot dogs” for her kids, and now Heidi is making them for her family. Your kids will love it!

If you want to make a more grown-up version, use a fine German bockwurst instead of hot dogs. Heidi thinks her mom pulled it off because it’s so easy on the budget. What it is, but it also tastes great and cooks quickly. Perfect for a weeknight family meal that hits the table.

You can use any type of hot dog. Kosher hot dogs are good. If you want to spice up the recipe a bit, try it with a mild bockwurst.

If serving this dish to young children, cut the hot dogs into smaller, bite-sized pieces as rounds of hot dogs can pose a choking hazard to young children.
