A classic shrimp dip for parties! Mix small pink shrimp, lemon zest and juice, scallions, parsley, hot sauce, cream cheese and a little mayonnaise in this easy cold shrimp dip.

In the world of party food, there’s a time for fancy things and there’s a time for oh my god I only have 10 minutes to make something I don’t want to do. to be ashamed to serve guests.

So it’s good to have a dish like this shrimp dip in your pocket.

Some small pink shrimp (they’re sustainable and sweet), some cream cheese, a touch of mayo, a little lemon, some chopped herbs, a dash of hot sauce and you’re done! A delightful dip – thick, shrimp-like and lightly flavored with lemon, herbs and hot sauce.

For occasions like this, have some frozen shrimp and some crackers on hand and you can pull it all together in 10 minutes. (Well maybe 15 if you need to defrost the shrimp.)

If using frozen shrimp, be sure to thaw them by placing them in a bowl of ice water. Strain after thawing.

ingredients

  • 8th ounces Cream cheese, room temperature

  • 1/4 Cup mayonnaise

  • 2 to 4 tablespoon lemon juice (2 for regular lemon, 4 for Meyer lemon), more to taste

  • 1 teaspoon Finely grated Lemon peel

  • 3/4 lb cooked, peeled, small pink prawns (Salad Shrimp)

  • 1/4 Cup cut spring onionsincluding the Greens

  • 2 tablespoon finely chopped fresh parsley

  • 1/4 teaspoon Tabasco or Crystal hot sauce

  • Fresh ground black pepper taste

method

  1. Beat cream cheese, mayonnaise and lemon:

    In a medium bowl, stir together cream cheese and mayonnaise until smooth. Add lemon juice and lemon zest. Beat until smooth (you may need to use a whisk).

  2. Pulse Shrimp with Cream Cheese Mixture:

    If you have a food processor, pulse the shrimp and cream cheese mixture, three 1-second pulses. If not, or if you just don’t want to bother with the food processor, chop the shrimp – chop finely to medium – and mix into the cream cheese.

  3. Add spring onions, parsley, hot sauce and pepper:

    Pour back into the bowl and stir in the spring onions and parsley. Add the hot sauce and black pepper to taste. Add more lemon juice to taste.

    stay cool Serve with crackers or crudité.
