My sister loves snacks that are both sweet and salty. Chocolate-covered potato chips and chocolate-covered peanuts are on the list, but chocolate-covered pretzels are her absolute favorite.

To use the best pretzels
You can make chocolate covered pretzels in any pretzel shape you like. Both the traditional pretzel twist and the long pretzel stick are popular, but the mini twists are my personal favorite. They guarantee the perfect ratio of chocolate to crispy pretzel.
To use the best chocolate
You can also use any chocolate you like – the only rule is that you have to choose a chocolate that you really enjoy eating on your own!
Decorate your pretzels!
You can leave your pretzels plain or drizzle them with some extra chocolate like I did. If you want to go fancy, decorate them with sugar sprinkles, coconut flakes, or chopped nuts. Sprinkles are a great way to dress up these treats for Halloween, Christmas, or any other holiday!

Chocolate covered pretzels
When buying white chocolate, check the ingredients and make sure cocoa butter is listed. A lot of low-quality white chocolate only uses vegetable oil, which doesn’t melt very well and isn’t great for coating pretzels.
Feel free to swap out the semi-sweet and white chocolate in this recipe for whatever favorite chocolate you like to eat.
If you sprinkle the pretzels with sprinkles or something similar, make sure the chocolate covering the pretzels is still wet so they stick.
ingredients
-
12 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips
-
12 ounces white chocolate chips (see guiding principle above)
-
4 oz (72 Individually) Mini pretzel twists
method
-
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or silicone baking sheet
-
Melt the dark chocolate:
Place the semi-sweet chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave for 1 minute and 30 seconds at 50% power.
Stir the chips. Microwave for 30 seconds at 100% power. Stir until chocolate is melted and smooth.
If the chocolate still has lumps, heat it on 100% power for 15 second intervals, stirring between each interval until smooth.

-
Dip half of the pretzels in dark chocolate:
Place a small pretzel in the semi-sweet chocolate and use a fork to push it under the surface to coat.
-
Remove the excess chocolate:
Use a fork to loosen the pretzel from the chocolate. Then tap the sides of the bowl lightly until most of the chocolate has dripped off.
Wipe the base of the fork on the rim of the bowl to remove excess chocolate, then slide the pretzel onto the parchment-lined baking sheet (use a second fork if needed).
Repeat until you have coated half of the pretzels. There should be some melted chocolate left.
-
Repeat with the white chocolate:
Repeat the chocolate melting process with the white chocolate chips in a clean bowl. Repeat the coating process with the remaining pretzels in the white chocolate.
-
Drizzle the pretzels with the remaining chocolate:
Dip a fork into the remaining semi-sweet chocolate and drizzle over the white chocolate-covered pretzels; Repeat with the remaining white chocolate.
If you want more control over the drizzle, transfer the chocolate to a quart-size resealable freezer bag. Cut off a very small corner of the bag (1/16 inch) to make a tiny hole. Squeeze the bag for a more controlled drizzle over the chocolate.
-
Chill all the pretzels until the chocolate is hard:
Then remove from the pan and store in an airtight container in the refrigerator. The pretzels will keep for 7 to 10 days.
