A cross between garlic bread and pizza, cheese bread is a quick, easy, and delicious party snack.

My friend Michelle loves throwing big parties with lots of food and lots of friends. I think it has to be the big Italian family thing, you’re never short of food or good company in their home.
I’ve shown them sliced, but you could easily slice them crosswise again for smaller appetizer bites. But beware, they are addictive!

This recipe can easily be doubled or scaled up to make even more.
ingredients

4 oz (1 Cup) grated mozzarella cheese

8 ounces (approx 2 cups) shredded sharp cheddar cheese

1/4 to 1/2 cup chopped green onion (taste)

1/4 Cup mayonnaise

1 tablespoon Sour cream, Optional

1 to 2 cloves Garlic, chopped

1/2 floor (1/4 cup, 2 ounces) unsalted buttersoftened to the point of melting slightly

1 loaf French or italian bread (I took ciabatta)

Make the cheesy topping:
In a small bowl, cream together the butter and garlic. In a separate large bowl, mix together the cheese and spring onion. Stir in mayonnaise and sour cream. Add the butter mixture to the cheese mixture.

Spread cheese on bread:
Preheat grill. Cut the loaf in half horizontally and place crust-side down on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil. Spread the cheese mixture on the bread.

Place under the grill:
until nicely browned, about 3 to 5 minutes.

Disc:
Remove from the grill and let rest for 5 minutes, until cool enough to touch. Slice the bread with a bread knife. Surcharge.
Variations:
Try mixing other ingredients into the topping mix, like chopped black olives, chopped canned artichoke hearts, chopped shrimp, or crab meat.
