Celery Salad recipe, aka celery tartar sauce, features celery root, green apple, and a mayonnaise Dijon dressing.
Also known as Celery tartar sauce, this celery root salad is a refreshing side dish for fish dishes and very easy to prepare. Celery root looks like a giant turnip, but tastes more like a cross between celery and jicama.
The result is a cool coleslaw-like salad with no cabbage flavor. Yummy! Sacramento Chef Evie Lieb made this salad to match the panko-crusted salmon in our recent cooking class.
Celery Root Salad
Recipe by Evie Lieb.
Celery root is difficult to cut through, like butternut squash. Evie recommends using a chef’s knife and a large rubber mallet. Gently hit the back of the knife blade with the rubber mallet to sever the celery root.
