Walnut Candies, made with walnut halves coated in a homemade caramel candy sauce.

These Homemade Caramel Candied Walnuts are a little gooey and a little chewy, but oh so good.

ingredients

  • 1/3 cup sour cream

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 2 Table spoons of milk

  • 3/4 cup sugar

  • 2 cups walnut halves

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

method

  1. Make the caramel base:

    In a small, heavy-bottomed saucepan, combine the sour cream, salt, milk, and sugar and heat. Heat until the temperature reads 240°F on a candy thermometer or digital thermometer, stirring occasionally.

  2. Add walnuts, vanilla:

    Add the walnuts and a teaspoon of vanilla. Stir until the walnuts are creamy.

  3. Remove from pan and separate:

    Remove pan from heat and spread walnuts on parchment paper or silpat. Separate with 2 forks if necessary. Allow to cool to harden.
