Air Fryer Avocado Fries
Air Fryer Avocado Fries

Perfectly crunchy on the outside and creamy on the inside, these Air Fryer Avocado Fries go great with an easy spicy ranch dip.

Avocado fries are the perfect blend of crunchy and creamy. Who would have thought that if you took slices of avocado, breaded them, and then fried them in an air fryer, you would end up with a snack so good I still can’t believe everyone doesn’t eat them all the time. If you like guacamole and chips, you’ll love these!

The trick to great avocado fries

Avocado fries are exactly what they sound like: strips of avocado that are breaded (I like to use panko breadcrumbs) and then fried. They’re traditionally baked or made in a deep fryer, but they work great in the air fryer!

The trick to good avocado fries depends entirely on what avocados you’re using. You should use lightly underripe Avocados for avocado fries. Not quite firm, but not soft. If they’re ripe enough for guacamole, they’re too ripe for avocado fries.

The perfect avocado for avocado fries is soft to pressure and green under the stem or cap. It shouldn’t be mushy.

Why you should use an air fryer for avocado fries

Air frying is perfect for avocado fries because it quickly crisps up the outside of the “frieze,” leaving it crispy and browned—all without overcooking the inside and mushing the avocado.

No air fryer? How to bake avocado fries

If you don’t have an air fryer, don’t worry! Simply spray a baking sheet with nonstick spray, then bake the avocado slices at 350F for about 12 minutes or until golden brown.

What to serve with avocado fries

A pinch of coarse salt and a squeeze of lime juice are nice, but optional as these avocado fries are great on their own. However, if you want a dip, I’m happy to serve it with ranch spicy, or as it’s known in my kitchen, a simple concoction of ranch dressing and Sriracha hot sauce.

30 fries

ingredients

  • 3 slightly underripe avocados

  • 1 Cup Panko bread crumbs

  • 1/2 Cup grated parmesan cheese

  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

  • 2 big eggsbeaten

  • nonstick cooking spray for air fryer

  • Coarse saltOptional

  • Fresh lime juiceOptional

For the dipping sauce:

  • 1/2 Cup ranch dressingstore bought or homemade

  • 2 tablespoon Sriracha

method

  1. Slicing avocados:

Halve the avocados and remove the stone. Using a large spoon, scoop out each avocado half in one piece. Cut each half lengthwise into 5 slices.

  2. Make the panko mix and dip the avocados:

In a medium bowl, stir together panko breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, and black pepper. Whisk eggs in a separate bowl. Dip each avocado slice in egg, then brush well with the panko mixture.

  3. Fry avocado slices:

Spray the air fryer basket with non-stick spray. Place as many avocado fries as possible in the Air Fryer basket without touching them. A whole avocado (10 fries) should do. Fry the fries at 350°F for 3 minutes per side. They should be crispy and golden brown. Repeat with the remaining batches.

Alternatively, you can bake the avocado slices in a 350°F oven for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.

  4. Surcharge:

Allow the fries to cool slightly before serving. Sprinkle with salt and lime juice, if you like, or serve with the dip. Cooked avocado fries don’t keep very well, so only cook as many as you plan to eat!
